Dalada Maligawa

Kandy is the home of the Temple of Tooth Relic, “Sri Dalada Maligawa”, one of the most sacred places in the world among Buddhist community. The present temple was the palace of the last king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe until 1815.vThe Kandy Lake and its unique cloud wall add an unprecedented scenic view to the “Sri Dalada Maligawa”. Thousands of tourists visit annually to see, worship and experience the cultural happenings in “Sri Dalada Maligawa” which are unique to the place.

This is one of the most attractive events that can be experienced by the tourists. Tourists can experience city’s rich heritage on a magical evening of live performances, including traditional musical instruments, lyrical dances, and even a fire shows. These traditional performances are unique to Sri Lanka.
Kandyan Dancer is the icon of the upcountry dancing and the attire of the Kandyan Dancer consists of Ves which is the traditional attire of the Kandyan dancer. Sixty four ornaments complete the dress and traditionally their sheen symbolizes the rays of the sun. It takes years of rigorous training before a dancer can achieve the status of a fully-fledged “ves” dancer.

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden

Peradeniya Botanical Garden is the most attractive botanic garden in Sri Lanka among both locals and foreigners. The garden is situated in the adjoining city to the Kandy and gives home to more than 4,000 variety of species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees across 147 acres that are endemic, indigenous, or non-indigenous to Sri Lanka. Royal Garden provides a unique place of education for both local and foreign students in biological stream.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden holds the popularity for around 300 species of orchids in the orchid house in the garden which makes tourists astonished by their natural colors and shapes.

Embekke Dewalaya
Alis Embekke Temple

Embekke Devalaya can be identified as an icon of Sri Lankan Wood Carvings which was believed initially built in 1357-1374AD by King Wickramabahi III. The famous wood artistry of the Embekke Devalaya is said to be done by a skilled craftsman called Delmada Devendra Mulachari. This Temple is devoted to God Katharagama.
This pillar of the temple made of indigenous wood and all the pillars are decorated with carvings which have become world famous.

2nd World War Cemetery
